How to Deal With Grief Caused by Death

Loss of a loved is one of the most grievous experiences anyone can go through in life and not everyone knows how to deal with grief.
While time is acknowledged as a crucial healing agent, below are four other ways to deal with grief after loss of a loved one:
1. Allow room for healing
Don't bottle in your feelings or emotions after loss of a loved one. Do not do that at all. Learn to express the way you're feeling and the amount of grief that you feel. Release it to the fullest because it does a lot of relief to you. Cry if you have to.
Understand that it takes a long process to finally get through with healing from the pain; enjoy the process! Your feelings of pain are valid and it’s absolutely okay to feel the way you feel. No! you’re not being over reactive. Do not forget that you will feel better over time, just allow it.
2. Talk about it
Note that you don't have to be compelled or forced into talking about how you feel about your loss of a loved one. It however goes a long way when you choose to talk, especially for those who were more expressive in nature before the incident. It’s normal to want to feel more withdrawn with a lot of realities setting in at the same time.
Do talk about it. You can also do this is by writing down your experience of the loss in a journal or even as a song or poem. Upon doing this, you can decide to share or keep it private.
3. Get therapy if necessary
Loss of a loved one can have some kind of psychological effect on you as an individual. Your mental health is important and it will be ideal to decide to see a therapist in order to get help on how to deal with grief. The therapist will ask you series of questions and will also listen to you. This is to enable you find a good distraction or a way to better utilize your pain.
Note that this is a no shame, closure finding zone and it’s okay to confide in someone well experienced.
4. Keep the family close when dealing with grief
This is especially for those who lost a family member. Anything could have led to the loss of a loved one and sometimes these situations can birth other issues within the family but it's advisable that no matter how grievous it is for you and those within your family, what's best to do is to stay together.
You could try sharing memories of such persons, especially pleasant memories. You could also create a sort of memorial in their honor. Stay within the family and find healing together.
5. Find solace in friends
Also allow room for comfort, it’s not a perfect time to deny or reject help or comfort from friends or other loved ones. Ensure to let them know what you need per time and it would all be easier.
Knowing how to deal with grief is not something we usually learn but it's one the harsh realities of life. Staying strong in such distressful time can be really tasking and stressful. The reality of your mortality could hit more and affect your lifestyle. But look here, you can take all the time you need to heal but let the changes be positive as you've got to be strong, maximize your pain and look forward to even better days ahead.
