JT (Jatavia Shakara Johnson) of the dynamic rap duo City Girls, has officially claimed her spot in the solo spotlight with the release of her debut solo mixtape, City Cinderella, which dropped on Friday (July 19) via Quality Control. The 16-track mixtape is a testament to her rapid ascent and features high-profile collaborations with DJ Khaled on the electrifying “Oh,” Stunna Girl on the spicy “Lemon Pepper,” CLIP on the anthemic “All Stars,” and a fiery remix of her hit single “OKAY” with Jeezy (aka Young Jeezy).

In a candid revelation during her recent Paper cover story, JT emphasized that City Cinderella is a mixtape, not an album. “People work on their albums for a year, albums are just different. So City Cinderella is not my first album, being that I made this project so damn fast,” JT explained. “I had to create this project throughout the tour and moving around, so I didn’t have time to really nurture and doctor it. This is just something that I’m putting out with my pure instincts.”

To give fans a behind-the-scenes look at her creative process, JT also released a 22-minute documentary chronicling the making of her debut solo project. The documentary offers an intimate glimpse into her whirlwind journey of creating music amidst a hectic tour schedule and the constant demands of her burgeoning solo career.

JT's hard work and undeniable talent have not gone unnoticed. She was recently featured on Billboard’s 10 Hottest Female Rappers Right Now list, a testament to her rising influence in the rap game.

Looking ahead, JT is set to embark on the highly anticipated 21-date City Cinderella Tour this August, bringing her electrifying performances and new music directly to fans across the country. With her raw talent, relentless work ethic, and the buzz surrounding City Cinderella, JT is undoubtedly poised for a solo stardom that mirrors the fairy tale rise of her mixtape’s namesake.
