Dexter Nikoe Eaton, a 34-year-old resident of Baltimore, has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison following a series of armed bank and commercial robberies. U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett also ordered Eaton to serve three years of supervised release after his prison term.
Eaton’s criminal activities transpired between June 3 and July 30, 2022, during which he was involved in six separate incidents: five armed robberies and one attempted robbery. Importantly, Eaton used a firearm in four of these robberies.
Details of the Robberies
June 3, 2022: Eaton robbed a bank located in the 3200 block of West North Avenue. He handed a note to the teller that threatened violence against the teller's family unless he received money.
June 9, 2022: He attempted to rob a check-cashing business on West North Avenue. However, the teller activated an alarm, forcing Eaton to flee before completing the robbery. Law enforcement later recovered the note he had passed, which contained similar threats.
June 10, 2022: Armed with a handgun, Eaton entered another bank in the same area. Wearing a black head covering and surgical mask, he threatened both customers and employees, demanding $4,000 and insisting that everyone stay still. He forced a customer to the ground and robbed them while further threatening them and the bank staff.
June 27, 2022: Eaton robbed a bank on Liberty Heights Avenue, where he pointed a gun at a security guard and demanded cash from the teller while threatening violence if his demands were not met.
July 23 and July 30, 2022: In two separate incidents at businesses in the 3100 block of West North Avenue, Eaton held employees at gunpoint, demanding cash. During one of these robberies, he threatened an employee for not acting quickly enough.
