In a shocking turn of events following recent allegations made by Nigerian blogger Martins Vincent Otse ( aka Very Dark Man and VDM), another bombshell has dropped — this time from popular blogger and social media influencer Brainiac The Radiogad. The blogger has released a voicenote and video that further corroborate claims suggesting that Bobrisky, known for his flamboyant persona and controversial public presence, may not have served his prison sentence as reported.

Background: The Charges Against Bobrisky

Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, faced serious legal troubles after being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for multiple offenses, including money laundering and Naira mutilation. On April 4, 2024, the EFCC filed a six-count charge against him. The first four counts concerned the abuse of the Naira, while the last two counts were related to alleged money laundering.

Before the charges were presented in court, the EFCC prosecutor requested that counts five and six be struck out, citing an agreement with the defendant. Consequently, Bobrisky was arraigned on Friday, April 5, 2024, on a four-count charge regarding the mutilation of Naira notes totaling N490,000 (Four Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira), to which he pleaded guilty.

On April 12, 2024, a Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced him to six months in prison without the option of a fine, following his guilty plea to four of the six charges laid against him.

Recent Developments: Allegations of Deception

The heart of the controversy lies in claims made by VDM that Bobrisky did not serve his prison sentence but instead resided in a luxurious apartment. VDM stated that Bobrisky allegedly bribed EFCC officials with a hefty sum of N15 million to facilitate the dropping of his money laundering-related charges. The statement was based on a supposed recorded call between Bobrisky and an unnamed person from whom Bobrisky allegedly borrowed the sum of N4 million.

In a compelling twist to the narrative, Radiogad has released a voicenote that reportedly captures a conversation with Bobrisky on April 18, 2024 — just days after the court's sentencing. In the recording, Bobrisky allegedly reassures Radiogad, stating, “... a lot of people are thinking that I am in prison, but I am not.” This raises significant questions about the validity of the prison sentence and the broader implications of corruption within the EFCC.

Amid the tumultuous allegations, Radiogad also voiced grievances about his relationship with Bobrisky, claiming that he defended the controversial figure during his legal battles and expected compensation, which he asserts never materialized. Describing Bobrisky as ungrateful, Radiogad's sentiments add another layer to this complicated web of accusations and defenses.

EFCC Response and Ongoing Investigation

On September 24, 2024, in light of the mounting allegations, the EFCC took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to announce that the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, had ordered an investigation into claims concerning bribery involving some officers of the Commission. This underscores the seriousness of the accusations leveled against Bobrisky and the potential repercussions for the EFCC. Both Bobrisky and VDM were invited to aid in the investigation to uncover the alleged bribery.

As these developments unfold, the implications of Bobrisky's alleged misconduct are far-reaching, potentially shaking the foundations of public trust in the EFCC and raising alarm bells about corruption and accountability within Nigerian law enforcement. The revelation of the voicenote and subsequent allegations of bribery cast a shadow over the original court ruling, leaving the public to wonder: did Bobrisky truly evade justice, or is there more to this story than meets the eye? The investigation by the EFCC may hold the answers to these pressing questions and reveal the truth behind this sensational saga.
