Since many of us write in British English, please let us use 'single quotes (') for initial quotations, and then double quotes (“) for quotations within the initial quotation'. For instance: History teacher: Luther King said 'I have a dream'. Student: My history teacher said 'Luther King said "I have a dream"'.
