Kanye West, widely known for his unfiltered and often abrasive tweets on X, has finally taken a step back from the platform. In a surprising move, he willingly deactivated his X account, seemingly coming to terms with the idea that his controversial tweets may have been his way of escaping reality.

Before his departure, the fashion icon left what could be considered his final tweet, expressing how he may have misused his freedom of expression:

“I’m logging out of Twitter, I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board. It was like an ayahuasca trip. Love all of you who gave your energy and attention. Till we connect again—good afternoon and goodnight.”

Kanye compared his time on X to an "ayahuasca trip"—a reference to the powerful psychedelic plant traditionally used in South American spiritual and medicinal ceremonies. While many celebrities have been rumored to use ayahuasca, they often deny it. However, Kanye’s statement subtly suggests a different narrative, indirectly confessing to experiencing its effects.

Speculations are running wild as X users debate the real reason behind his sudden deactivation. Some believe it stems from the ongoing controversies surrounding his wife, Bianca Censori, who recently made headlines for appearing nearly nude on the red carpet. Others link it to the backlash he received for taking a shot at Taylor Swift, who was seen singing along to Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy-winning diss track. In a now-deleted tweet, Kanye wrote:

“IF IT’S ABOUT THE CULTURE ... WHY ARE WE LETTING TAYLOR SWIFT BE SEEN ON TV SINGING A SONG ABOUT TAKING A BLACK MAN DOWN AND ACCUSING OF THINGS THAT CAN TAKE A BLACK MAN DOWN FOR LIFE.”

This isn’t the first time Kanye has stirred controversy regarding Swift, and fans believe it might have been the final straw for him. Some even speculate that Ye and Kanye are two different personas, with Kanye now stepping away from the chaos of social media. His departure from X raises questions about whether he has genuinely chosen a path of self-reflection.

Adding to the whole assumption theory of Ye's sudden deactivation on X, in an interview in 2016 Kanye has previously claimed he was misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder and instead has autism. Whether this revelation played a role in his decision to log off remains unclear.

Regardless of the theories, one thing is certain: Kanye West is taking a break from the media—and perhaps, for once, that might be a good thing.
